Carex vulpinoidea, Fox Sedge

FS-PS, Zone 3, Blooms June-July, 3’ x 1-2’, Wet to Medium-dry, deer resistant

We started adding sedges to our inventory in 2022 and are delighted with these hardy, attractive, and seed-bearing plants. They are easy to grow in different growing conditionsand and are terrific in wildlife gardens. Fox Sedge is adapatble to a wide range of growing conditions.

The plant grows during cool weather conditions. The seed head resemble a Fox tail; thus the common name. If you are familiar with the concept of using “plants as mulch” to prevent annual weed growth, this is an excellent choice. We carry two more sedges in our nursery. Check them out!

Sedges support our bird populations with cover and seeds.
